About Jamie Blumenthal
Jamie Blumenthal, MA, MT-BC is owner
of Family Music Connection: North
Bay Music Therapy Services.
She has a Bachelor’s Degree in music
therapy with a minor in Psychology
from Montclair State University, a
Master’s Degree in Psychology with a
concentration in music therapy from
Antioch University and is a Board
Certified music therapist.

Since 1982, Jamie has worked in
hospitals, schools, nursing homes
and community settings, providing
music therapy for clients throughout
the lifespan with developmental
disabilities, acute and chronic
psychiatric needs, medical needs,
issues of aging and hospice, grief
and loss, as well as offering
sessions for wellness and
personal/spiritual growth in her
private practice.
Jamie has extensive experience
working with older adults in all
levels of care; for the past decade
she has worked with older adults in
facilities and in the community in
the North Bay and in addition in
Southern California as a department
head, supervisor, program developer
and trainer. This includes her work
with an interdisciplinary team to
develop, organize and implement all
aspects of a 125-bed special care
unit for Alzheimer’s patients in
Reseda, California.
Jamie is a respected educator,
having taught music therapy at
Sonoma State University extension,
UC Santa Barbara extension and
provided music classes through the
senior education program at Santa
Rosa Junior College. She has done
both national and regional
presentations on music therapy. She
has published articles on the use of
Creative Arts Therapies to heal
grief and loss.
Family Music Connection: North Bay
Music Therapy Services is currently
the only Private Practice Music
Therapy service in Sonoma, Marin or
Mendocino counties.
In her private practice, Jamie
offers both individual and group
sessions. Music therapy services are
provided in three main areas: Older
adults, Wellness and
Developmental/Learning Disabilities.
